If it was a foreclosure sale, then perhaps the bank controlled the transaction

and you might have a bigger problem if the occupant received zero funds from the transaction. The occupant might very well have no place to go and plans to ride out the eviction process. You might have to review what you signed at closing. Chances are, they made you waive your recourse rights.

I'd start the eviction process ASAP.
