Alright math people, what would BYU's SOS be if you only considered the top 6
teams that we've played? It seems like the committee is using SOS as something that invalidates BYU, but the reality is that playing a game against a bad team is infinitely better than not playing any game at all, at least in the real world. Yet here we are having our schedule compared against the schedules of the teams in front of us that have played far fewer games. We kept our commitment to play North Alabama, even though it would hurt our SOS. Using the CFP's logic, we should have cancelled that game, along with all of the other games against poor opponents.

Using SOS as a barometer makes no sense in a season where the P5 conferences are only playing each other, and it makes even less sense when the teams are playing an uneven number of games.
