Miami next week, and even if BYU is ranked ahead of both of them. That significantly hurts BYU. Contract bowls like the Orange Bowl are filled before at large slots are awarded. Your scenario is one way BYU could be ranked 11 and miss out on the NY6. BYU fans want Clemson to lose to Notre Dame and fill the Orange Bowl slot.
