I don't know if you could argue that the best team in the country has ever been left out of the playoff since it started. So as far as the playoff goes, I'm not upset. I do think they miss the mark when it comes to the rest of the best.

I also think the conference championship games at the end of the season usually act as a good playoff play-in game for the teams that are on the cusp of getting into the top 4.
