Is he Irish or European? They say it differently than we do... and “next” is the very next even if in a day or two. US
approach is that it’s the day in the week after the one you’re in.
2 days from now is “this Wednesday” - “next Wednesday” is thus 9 days from now.
I work with an Irish guy and the confusion finally stopped when he explained that Europeans just don’t mean what they say. 🤷♂️

Depends on when he said it. If he said it last Friday, then it’s this week. If he said it today, then it’s next week.

We need the word “oxt”. Your use is colloquially understood, but technically doesn’t follow the dictionary def. “Next”
