So I work in family medicine and rarely go to the pediatric wing of the hospital. During the Summer time I would occassionally tease those working in pediatrics wing because their lists were shorter than normal.
Well a couple days ago, I was working in the clinic and got my very first (+) test for influenza this season. Slightly surprised to recognize it was my first (+) of the year I asked our nurse manager, and it was the entire clinic's first test, granted we have been testing mostly for Covid, but we still have done over 200 influenza tests that were all negative. So I got curious and the next time I was walking through the hospital I stopped by the pediatric wing, they told me that they have had 1 case of RSV, and 0 cases of Adenovirus so far this winter. (This is EXTREMELY low). Thank you everyone for the additional hand washing, social distancing, and wearing masks. I really appreciate the sacrifices and additional effort everyone has put into the overall effort.
P.S. did some additional research and the Covid-19 precautions in Australia had a very similar effect.
