It is making a huge difference in less contagious viral illness.
While COVID may be less than 1% mortality, it does spread much easier than most viral illnesses we are use to dealing with today.
Covid does spread slower than Measles and Smallpox so I hear, but I have never seen either of them in person.

As I have suggested before, we would be wise to continue these masking and distancing practices every flu/virus season.
