When trying new guns, don't be afraid of the full size options. I've noticed most suggestions here are for smaller handguns, with some even being guns that I own and enjoy. While it's common to suggest smaller guns for women, a general rule of thumb I've found is that, between two guns of the same caliber, the smaller will usually be louder, with greater "felt" recoil (less mass in the gun itself to absorb recoil), and can even be less "pleasant" to shoot. Plus, with most manufacturers having some degree of modularity in their grip sizing, you should be able to find something full-size that is still easy enough for her to handle.
If things like ease of carry and concealment are not an issue (i.e. this won't be a concealed carry weapon but a "range gun" or home defense or whatever) you may find that full-size options are an excellent choice. (I realize OP said "small to conceal" but just a thought to make shooting--and practicing--more enjoyable.)
