Yeah, it's tough. My oldest is getting into history, so I went with a full size 1911 ww1 issue replica
Until I get something smaller, I've gotta figure out how to carry it, and it's weight. On the plus side, I have .45 ACP.

But when you consider the real threats I face (snakes, maybe small bear and mountain lions), then a .357 with snake loads and some +p would have arguably been ideal.
