NOT to get political ... BUT that is stupid!! That girl sounds like the kind of person there should be SPECIAL grants and such available to help ... not that she CAN'T get them. ARGH ...

Does she, or could she qualify as one of these situations?

• You are an emancipated minor or in legal guardianship
• You are a homeless youth
• You are a student for whom a financial aid administrator makes a documented determination of independence by reason of other unusual circumstances

That last one ... Fin Aid Adm says independent sounds like the best chance.

MAYBE she is eligible for various needs based private scholarships and grants ... because he fiancial NEED will be high and they might be more reasonable than the Feds. BUT you have find some that are NOT using the FAFSA ... which is probably not alot of options.
