My bad. I thought you were advocating for a tournament of only conference

champions like back in the day of 32 team tournaments. If I remember correctly, the ACC was the only conference to hold a conference tournament for their auto-bid, and I believe the regular season champ, if they got beat in the conference tournament, would get the NIT at best.
