Keeping dumb people from losing their money would be a half-believable reason
If things like lottery, pay day loans, and gender studies degrees (student loans in general) were outlawed.
Like nearly all forms of accreditation, it’s merely a way for the cabal to limit participation, police a market, wet its own beak and maintain an illusion of control.
