I have had the chance to sit court side in both.
It was deafening in a big game.
It still gets loud since the switch but the students really packed the sound the length of the court.
Watching on TV was better too because the students were visible and you could see the energy of the fans. It looks much more mellow since the switch.

Many students were really upset about losing the sideline. But this is infinitely better for the atmosphere
