He was not highly recruited - only offers were us and Utah.
His high school stats are not eye-popping (<200 yards passing/game, <50 yards rushing/game, TD:INT ratio barely better than 2:1)
Watching him in college, accuracy has seemed serviceable, gets 3-4 yards on rushing plays, but nothing that’s blown me away.
Doesn’t have size that would give him some big advantage.
Personally, I think Conover has much more upside and will have had a season running the scout team against our 1s in which he reportedly impressed plus a spring and fall under his belt. He was very highly recruited and had incredible high school stats, only took one season off for the mission for body/skills to deteriorate, and is also mobile and athletic. He’s certainly not your average true freshman. My money would be on him earning the start, and it makes me more excited to think of the season with Conover leading the offense. I have no skin in the game, but these are just my impressions.
