If Wilson goes high, he'll probably end up at a dysfunctional team and it's hard to be successful in those situations.
On top of that, there are some question marks about Wilson that were masked by 2020's great OL and weak schedule. People with even 18-month memories can remember the disaster that 2019 was and the very legitimate questions about whether that team did better with Wilson or Romney at QB.
Granted, there are tons of excuses for Wilson in 2019 (various injuries, different playcalls for Wilson vs. backups, higher level of competition) but the fact of the matter is that ZW got smoked several times in 2019 and lost a couple other games (like Toledo) for the Cougars.
Given all that, Colin's probably taking a calculated risk by not pushing ZW now so that when the Jets make him a part of their dumpster fire and he sucks (just like every other QB the Jets have picked) Colin can do a "Colin Right, Colin Wrong" segment and and say "See! I told you that Wilson just didn't have the maturity and exposure to high-level competition that a QB needs to succeed in the NFL. That's why I liked Lawrence and Fields better."
