true for past history of losing streak...
...Bronco didn't recruit OL well (it just wasn't a priority to him) and that was an ongoing reason for losing. Agreed.

However, recruiting at BYU has changed considerably under Kalani and OL is no longer an afterthought, it's been a priority. I think the proof is in the pudding, I don't know exactly where Brady Christensen will get drafted but he was the highest graded Tackle in CFB this past season and is graded really high by NFL scouts (projections vary but I've seen him as early as late 1st round). Empey also has been graded really high at center (although injuries kind of sidetracked his progress last year which is why he's returning for his senior year) and there's a legit expectation that Herring and Hoge will at the very least get UFA contracts this year.

Because 70-80% of our recruiting classes serve 2 yr missions first it takes 4-5 yrs for a BYU football Head Coach to build depth and experience and to remake a roster. Last season was year 5 for Kalani and a year after losing really good WR/TE's like Bushman, Hifo, Shumway and Simon we reloaded with Rex, Milne, Romney and Pau'u (an even better group of receivers than the group they replaced).

A year after losing Ty'son Williams we replaced him with Tyler Allgeier (9th best returning RB in CFB according to PFF and the #2 graded RB last year). Allgeier was a PWO and is only a sophomore.

These aren't Bronco Mendenhall's Cougars anymore. We have talented depth at nearly every position (DL group is still a question mark) and are reloading not rebuilding (replacing an NFL QB is never an easy thing.
