My director was a big supporter of me for the first year and a half of working there. He always complimented me and gave me a lot of good work. I decided I wanted to get my PMBA and it was like he completely switched. He told me that I hadn't worked there long enough to do that. We had to Travel once a month for a week and said he wouldn't schedule my travel around any tests. The type of work I was doing it was pretty flexible and doable.
He then started accusing me of watching youtube all day. I had three screens and I had music playing on one screen I listened to on my headphones(which was completely allowed). We had more and more hostile interactions from then on out. In a meeting with another manager, he was fed up with me and said so if you get your MBA you are quitting. I said no you are firing me. Then he said I was a charity case that he decided to take on. I had cancer the year before and I have a feeling he was talking about that, but then he said I had a 2.9 GPA and was lucky to even have a job. That wasn't true at all, I had a 3.4 which isn't spectacular but he felt the need say that. He said I wouldn't be accepted in to any program.
Anyway I don't know why he didn't just straight up fire me right there, maybe because the other manager still really liked me. We agreed that if I didn't leave before a month or so I would be fired. I found a new job very quickly and started my PMBA.
To be honest I still carry a lot of anger about this despite moving on pretty easily from that job.
