Doesn't the cost of brick and mortar universities explain this?
What is the evidence that the church not investing in additional brick and mortar universities is due to their desire to divest from "mainstream academia" and avoid "post-modernist leftism?" I think the church is attempting to expand educational opportunities for its global members and those who cannot attend one of its traditional universities. What you ascribe to aversion of mainstream, leftist education is actually more properly attributed to the prohibitive costs of operating a brick and mortar institution.
