Car/bike collisions are overwhelmingly the fault of the driver of the car. If I

was walking across the road and a car didn't yield the right of way to me I would say "I got hit by a car". If I didn't have the right of way and I walked into a car I'd say "I walked into a car".

I think the point you're making is that it isn't always the fault of the driver and I agree, but saying someone got hit by something ascribes blame.
