Dan Mullen thinks the transfer portal will adversely affect HS recruits.
He thinks that coaches, instead of signing all 25 HS players to scholarships, will save a handful to bestow upon players they recruit from the portal.
Instead of having to groom and develop 25 freshman, every year, they will be able to bring in players with experience who have already had at least one year of the college regimen.

Well if he has 3 guys transfer and they sign 3 portal guys that’s 0 impact. Also, who signs 25 guys per year from HS?
