If you split the teams into 3 groups(Stars, role playing wings, and bench guys) it looks pretty even.

Conley, Mitchell, Gobert vs Paul, Booker, Ayton.

I think we can all agree Paul>Conley and Gobert>Ayton. Let’s just call Booker/Mitchell a tie as Suns and Jazz fans won’t agree there. I’d say the degree to which Gobert is better than Ayton is bigger than the degree to which Paul is better than Conley, so we’ll give the Jazz a slight edge.

Bojan, Ingles, Royce vs Mikal, Cam, Crowder.

Honestly think this one is pretty much a draw. The suns wings are better on defense and the Jazz wings are better on offense.

Clarkson/Favors vs Payne/Saric

Clarkson>Payne...no argument there.

I think Favors vs Saric depends. If it’s the Saric of the last 10 games or so, then Favors is better. If it’s the Saric we saw before the all star break, then Saric is better.

Just really evenly matched teams to me. Jazz got going earlier than the suns...I’d be curious to see the numbers over the last 30-35 games. I’d guess both teams would be very close.

I do think the suns have more question marks. Ayton has been frustratingly inconsistent all year. I think we’re a real contender if the good Ayton shows up. We’re pretenders if he doesn’t. Our wings can be frustrating on offense as well if they aren’t hitting shots. They don’t offer much in the ways of creation. If Ayton and the wings aren’t playing well, it just puts way too much on Book and CP3’s shoulders

Jazz question mark really only seems to be whether they are hitting their shots or not. I guess whether they can continue to get their shots in the playoffs is fair as well. But I think we know what we’ll get from their guys, at least from a style/energy standpoint.
