If we used a defensive scheme like we did against Navy at the first of the year, we win big at coastal Carolina, but our coaching was unable to even try to change our scheme from what we prepared. I thought at halftime that byu would commit to stopping the run, but Tuiaki totally disappointed and stuck with what was obviously not working. That left us very few chances on offense, with big time eating drives by CC. Having CC be a dirty team and a little referee help for CC also hurt us, and key drops by receivers didn't help. But the defensive scheme was #1 cause of our loss. Until we can outsmart p5 teams consistently with coaching, we won't go undefeated.
Last year, defensive coaching did get better and much more aggressive overall, IMO, but against CC our coaches underperformed. D was much better than last few years under Sitake, but we need to be more nimble and smarter with our scheme.
