There are local speed traps, but state police budget is tiny, so on I-5...
....you don't see many traffic stops. If you are in the city limits of certain cities, then local police may ticket you. On the I-5 corridor between Portland and Eugene, most of it is 65 mph, so you can get away with 70, but do 80 and you're risking a ticket. The highways over to the coast are patrolled by state police who are spread too thin.
