Teams like Juventus and Real Madrid only play once a decade, if that. This allows the best names in the world to play competitively once a year. It’s clearly best for the sport.

And they’re not abandoning the old model either. Sevilla and Valencia will still get to play for La Liga. Roma for the Italian Serie. But the real losers are Porto, PSG, Bayern, and Dortmund. Those guys were left off entirely and I think their brand deserves a spot at the table.
