About those returned Missionaries
I moved to Utah when I was a Junior and 9th grade classes did not count for high school. I had to take a PE class to be a graduating JR and ended up taking a basketball PE class at BYU.

Since it was the middle of spring semester when I learned that 9th grade didn't count in UT, the only class available was a block class starting in the middle of the semester and made up of me plus recently returned missionaries who had come home after the semester began and were taking block classes. (This was before the current trimester calendar) It was a tremendous boost to my 16 year old ego to see how well I could compete with out of shape 21 year old missionaries that had been home less than a month. They apparently had not served in the mission that gives an athletic advantage when returning home.
