And no one thought Zach was ever in danger of being benched (or losing his starting job) except a small subset of fans who were the same ones calling for Mangum, Taysom, Riley, Beck (before his Sr year), etc to be benched as well.
Zach’s career at BYU was one of steady upwards trajectory that was only stalled by injuries, a few signature wins over P5 opponents (in spite of the injuries), two bowl wins and a dominant Sr year.
He may be an NFL bust because the Jets are a disaster. But I think you undersell him when you compare him to Jimmer, who was a phenomenal college player but didn’t have the skill set for the NBA. And Zach is more naturally talented than John Beck ever hoped to be (which is saying something).
