He was the assistant head coach during almost the entirety of Matt and Dallas’ time at BYU, so he seemingly would have been in a position to have his voice heard.

I could be wrong but I’ve never read statements indicating they felt Matt was held back by coaching.

If they felt that way, he would have had incentive as both a parent and the assistant head coach to get it resolved. He could have had Matt transfer. He would have had plenty of contacts. He could have encouraged Houston to play somewhere else.

The actions don’t seem to indicate from their perspective that they felt it was a coaching issue.
