This is such a terrible analysis I dont even know where to start.
You completely misinterpreted my post. Nowhere did I indicate that independence has produced amazing unbeatable recruiting classes. In fact I implied the exact opposite, that it is still inferior to P5.

I also never stated that any recruit would come to BYU because of the indy label. This is another surface level rebuttal that AAC lovers cannot get past. The title of being independent does not make BYU attractive everyone knows that. This is a straw man. However, what BYU has built with scheduling and national tv slots in indy is attractive. Playing coast to coast against big teams from every conference puts us a step ahead of the AAC. There is no doubt about it.

Your second paragraph implies that recruiting would improve in the AAC. Not sure if thats what you meant but that is ludicrous. Playing pac 12, big 12 and ACC teams will always be a bigger draw than the AAC. Plain and simple. Recruits dont care about a G5 conference title as much as some CBers do. You should call up Tom though and let him know all the 5 stars that are slippimg through the P5 offers are flocking to the AAC. Maybe it will motivate him to get BYU in.

In all seriousness facts are facts and several BYU recruits are on record stating they ultimately decided on BYU due to the guaranteed exposure and indy schedule. Argue all you want but that is the truth. If BYU joins the AAC they would be level with the likes of Houston, UCF, Cincy etc.. They instantly lose the unique scheduling edge they have over those teams that has worked in recruiting. Just like BYU basketball in the WCC they would become third best with an occasional outside shot to win the conference but not competitive year in and year out.
