After this last year ipad use and abuse was off the charts with my two oldest(10 and 8). The pandemic work they had to do was awful, as most “educational” apps wouldn’t work without turning off the protections. So it became a nightmare fast with YouTube not blocked. Those two became irrationally emotional over it.

It came to the point we will be selling them.

Now it’s been almost a month for the 8 yo and 3 months for the 10 yo and they are back to acceptable levels of kid emotions.

Don’t fall for the idea that you can use it as a carrot or reward and limited use stuff.

Unless you are super diligent it will just go back to the same behavior. (We tried with the 8 yo, hence only being off for a month).


Some kids and parents can handle that. But if you are like our kids, they can’t. Just keep it away.
