My dad loved roadtrips. Those vacations were the best. He was also a career Air Force officer so we had opportunities to move regularly and live in different places. Here are some of them we took:
- Drove from Utah to Florida and back. He had training at Ft Walton Beach for a week so we as a family drove out there with him and drove back. Visited some places along the way.
- After living in Europe we drove our car from the east coast - along the northern route - to Utah. Visited Church history places along the way. This was in the mid-1960s so those sites weren't built up like they are today.
- On our way to move to europe in the early 1970s - we drove from Utah to South Carolina. Lots of memories staying at Holiday Inns and then swimming in the evenings after a long day of driving.
- During the early 1970s while living in Spain - we took lots of siteseeing trips around Spain.
- Also while in Spain we took our very best vacation roadtrip. We drove from Madrid to southern France, to Switzerland, to northern Italy and then a boat from Italy to Barcelona.
My kids have developed the same love of travel that I have. I love roadtrips - thanks to my dad. And those roadtrips brought our family closer together.
