This. The Big 12 looked like a sinking ship. With

Texas, Ok, Missouri, Colorado, A&M, OkSt looking to bolt. The rest of the 12 needed to shore up fast. BYU was an obvious choice.

At the time many people thought there was no point in joining the remaining band of misfits.

Baylor was threatening to sue Texas if they left. I always thought we were in the same boat as Baylor, it was Big 12 or bust. BYU should have been offering money and legal services to Baylor if the Big 12 would let them in.

That BYU was not able to get their foot in the door at that time is a monumental failure, whether an offer was extended or not. BYU should have made the offer happen.
