My soon-to-be-married son just lucked into a 4 bd, 3 ba. home for ~$580K - Being
built now and sale fell through; just started, will be ready in about 6 months.
The developer gave it to him for $4k more than a 3 bd. 2.5 ba. home on which they were negotiating which would have been 12 months from being ready as it was in an "upcoming construction" phase of the development.
I still find it hard to believe that $600K is a "good" price for a home locally.

Low interest rates are the tradeoff, so tell him to be sure to lock in a 30-year fixed mortgage. Rates will go up soon.
