They are much better than they were 20 years ago- problem is coaching and cultur
No one trains year round
Coaches only hire their friends/buddies- not the ones with motivation to prove something/current successes.
For example, I know a guy who has put 11 kids at the D1/D2 level, with a handful at BYU, in the last 3 years, that has all the coaching experience required, etc. that applied for an open position and didn’t even get a call for an interview because he wasn’t buddy buddy with the coaches. He’s active LDS too. Same story with another individual I know- no interview.
Facilities is only an after thought in all of this too. Fix the coaching and the culture will correct. Fix the culture and BYU swimming would be very good
