Back in the 50s grid design was based on engineering principles. Nowadays it's based on politics and decisions are made
by those who want to look good (ie: saving the planet) and have no idea what reactive power is or why a stations capacity factor is important, etc.

I predict situations like those in California last year and Texas right now are going to become more prevalent across the USA before they get better.

Kind of crazy to think that in the 80s rolling blackouts in June/July would be unacceptable, but it might become a "way of life" in the not to distant future.

We need much better planning going forward to prevent this.
