BYU has been the year end top G5 or G5 equivalent once since 1985.
And has been the end-of-regular season leader twice.
The idea that BYU is going to go to the playoff consistently if we just join a G5 conference is probably as valid as the idea that we'd displace the Zags and dominate the WCC was in 2011.
EDIT: Since 1991, not 1985. The 1990 team would have qualified and 1989 may have also depending on how you define G5.
