The 12 team playoff results in 4 additional post-season games.

Losing 4 bowl games would have 0 affect on the number of teams participating in the post-season. This is assuming the playoff is incorporating 'bowl games'. If that is not the case there are up to 10 games that would need to get cut to keep the numbers the same.

So... Yes, he's obviously right
