I wonder if Tolkien initially had other plans for Bombadil or if he was exactly what he was supposed to be. Makes sense he was completely scrapped from the movies, but he played a slightly larger part in the book than I realized.

Seen theories that say he’s basically Iluvatar in Middle Earth and doesn’t get involved so that things play out how they will, like God. But who knows.
