Child tax credit increases from $2k per kid to $3600 per kid under 6 years old, and $3k per kid 6 to 17 years old. Half
of that credit will come in a monthly installment from July through December, and the remaining half will come in its usual form as a credit on your taxes filed for the year 2021.
For example, I have two boys ages 3 and 1. I will get $300 per kid for the next 6 months equating to $1800 per kid for that time frame. The remaining $1800 (per kid) of the $3600 tax credit will be provided as a credit when I file my taxes next year for this current tax year.
