I can envision a situation where minor league football and basketball are separated from universities.
In that scenario, the poor black kid doesn’t go to Alabama or Ohio State, or even UAB or Cincinnati, he instead plays minor league football somewhere for $17k/year, until minor league football spits him out at age 27 and he has to find something else to do, with no degree or alumni network to fall back on. Basically the way it is for minor league baseball players now.
So is that a better alternative for the poor black kid than what’s in place now?
