or twice a year. But then I upgraded to Ecobee thermostats, and I started noticing the thermostats were rebooting during the day.
I contacted ecobee support, and they confirmed that the problem was worse than I had realized and the reboots were happening several times each day. But the first thing they suggested was that I change the filters because if the filters get too dirty, it reduces airflow and triggers the limit switch in the system which shuts everything down for a minute.
I replaced the filters and the reboots went away. It was probably doing that long before I bought the ecobee thermostats I just never noticed it because there wasn’t anything visible like the thermostat reboots.
