There is a temp controlled valve you put under the sink furthest from the water heater. Then at the designated times, the heater will turn on and start circulating the hot water throughout the house. The temp valve allows the cold water in the hot water pipes to enter into the cold pipes until the hot water arrives and causes the valve to close. Works great with tankless and makes it so you are reheating the water back in the tank.
