A human driver would just give him plenty of room and go around him, but the uber-safety-conscious autonomous vehicle simply stopped whenever Gladwell started moving. An industry guy he talked to said that with current tech autonomous vehicles would be more likely to cause traffic jams than to solve them. I imagine they will eventually get better.
