SEC will be at 16 by adding OU and UT. This will be the premier league. The remaining Power conferences must respond to retain their strong position. This seems obvious. And 16 has been the magic number for scheduling for a long time.
ACC has 14 plus ND (in current or full membership) and one from Big12. Let’s say WV rounds out 16.
BIG10 has 14 and will pick up 2. Let’s say Iowa St and Kansas. We know they don’t care about adding good football teams.
PAC12 currently has 12 and needs 4 more. There will be 5 remaining dregs from Big12. Let’s assume OK St, TT, Baylor, K St, TCU.
If BYU is considered, there are 6 available for the PAC to choose from. PAC getting a foothold in Texas seems imperative.
Can BYU get picked by the PAC above two from that group?
I don’t know. I wouldn’t bet a lot on it.
