There's an excellent book called Truth, Lies and O-rings by Al McDonald. He was
the Morton Thiokol employee at the Cape who refused to sign off on the launch.
One the more interesting stories was that they were worried it was going to blow up on the launchpad. When it took off they thought they'd dodged a bullet. When the SRBs kept flying after the orbiter broke up, they were sure it wasn't an SRB problem. Until the next day.
