I think you answered your own question.
Every step college football's made towards mimicking a full pro model has gradually made things less stable and less enjoyable.
College football has been popular because it ISN'T like the NFL.
The further it goes down the road of just being a pro minor league, the less unique and interesting it becomes. And the more myself and others are inclined to just skip it and watch the real NFL, instead.
