Being ESPN's West Coast team is not a bad spot to be in.
The way this is going, conferences are almost getting tied to networks.
Fox is the Big Ten.
SEC/ACC are ESPN.
Pac-12 right now is mix of ESPN and Fox, but maybe they end up on CBS.
Anyway, point being that BYU staying independent may not be a terrible thing. We could be ESPN's Western outlet and they could continue to help schedule games.
Meanwhile, if CBS ends up just with the Pac-12 they're going to have a hard time finding 11:00 am kickoffs unless the Pac-16 adds a few central timezone teams.
