"Big 12 officials are reportedly considering restructuring the league's revenue sharing system, according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports. The group is proposing an increase of a half-share for each school, bumping the annual payout to approximately $56 million per year. The other eight schools would have their shares decreased to cover the cost."
So each team currently gets 37 million in the conference - Texas and OU would get 56 million with this idea. Meanwhile everybody else has their payout reduced from their current 37 million down to around 33, netting Texas and OU 23 million more per year than their conference mates. Hmmmm, would that special treatment be enough to keep OU and Texas, an extra 23 million more and perpetually being able to look down your nose at the rest of their conference as you get that much larger check?
