Question: does the AAC champ have a chance at getting one of four CFP bids now?
No.
Follow-up question: would the same AAC champ have a chance with 12 bids? Yes, they would basically be a lock. And given the first round bye for the top four seeds, the AAC champ would be guaranteed a chance to play and beat a team in the first round that is actually beatable (not Bama or Clemson).
If you don’t think that is a dramatic increase in access to the meaningful postseason then we just aren’t going to agree on anything.
