The B1G raiding the PAC either immediately or eventually is really strong
Possibility in this landscape.
In this mindset, it would behoove BYU to be a part of a salvaged Big 12 before that happened.
The next logical step post a B1G raid is a remainder of PAC merger with Big 12.
Hard to imagine getting into that merger and conference creation without first being a member of the Big 12. If Big 12 opportunity opens in any fashion…. We take it no matter how imperfect it is.

A 4 time zone conference would be a massive logistical nightmare. And the B10 already has 14. Going above 16 seems nuts
