Holmoe has put a schedule together at the last minute twice. Best data point we
have. Everything else is speculation. I'm sure he doesn't want to do it again, but I think it's more feasible than you think. First, no team is going to be angry at us for trying to go P5 if the opportunity arose, even if it collapses in a couple of years. They'll be disappointed for their inconvenience, but not angry—they'd get the reason why. It's not like 80K dropping a game just because he has a temper.

If the cougs had to rebuild a schedule, they'd do it the same way as before ... first with lesser teams who will always find room to play someone like BYU, and then build up to bigger schedules. It would take another decade to get a schedule like we're enjoying in 2021. So the risk isn't that it couldn't be done, only that we'd have to rebuild from scratch again and be patient again.

I'm willing to take that risk for Big 12.
